What a week! No sooner than the Southern Classic is over bikes are at it again - off to Mt Tarrengower.
Once again the weather gods were out to play with hot sunny days. This year the bikes were down in numbers because of so
many meetings taking place, with the S/C and Aussie Titles just around the corner. The meeting usually attracts a lot of
interest from the car folk but they also were down in numbers. I hope that this is not going to be the trend in future and
the meeting will be no longer. There were 9 solos and 2 sidecars entered and the Club enlisted 5 new members: David Whitefield,
Darren Lynch, Stuart Ritches, Lewis Foran and Brian Matthews. As usual Mick Panayi, on his well presented Norton 750, took
out the King of the Mountain and on his sighting lap was only 2 seconds off his best time, finishing the day with a 43.5 run.
First time rider Lewis Foran on his Honda CT 110 ran an 89.2 - not a bad time considering the bike is 6.8% smaller in size
to Mick’s.
Also first time rider Darren Lynch turned up on a 600 side vale BSA ridged complete with Kawasaki disc brake front end and
you could not wipe the smile off his face. Mark Seager and new passenger David Whitefield on Mark’s very neat and fast Honda
1000 tried to peal up the bitumen behind them with a quick time of 50.4. The ever reliable Tiny and Greg on their Triariel
650 kept the crowd entertained with monos off the line - one way to save some rubber on the front tyre!
Congratulations to all who attended, I hope that you had a great weekend and will be back next year. For those of you who
have not been to Mt Tarrengower it is a good weekend away not just for the limited rides but the social aspect of catching
up with other Club members.
Thank you to Craig, Julieanne, Doug and all those involved in putting this meeting together. A special thanks to Dave Gittus
who over the past 8 years has been HMRAV’s Mt Tarrengower Co-ordinator, and without whose valued input to the meeting for
our Club this hill climb would not exist - thanks Dave.
Toddy!
