PERIOD 6

The Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria, (HMRAV) are major supporters and promoters of historic racing in Victoria and have been for 35 years. The club has been intrinsically involved with the sport since its inception and promotes major national meetings that are well supported by racers from all over Australia.

The club has had generations of families racing with it and has a loyal supporter base. Our meetings attract large fields and racers travel from all over the country to compete at iconic events like the Victorian Historic Titles, Historic Winton and the Southern Classic.

HMRAV’s race meetings have a style all their own and are events where many iconic bikes and sidecars from the past can be seen competing. These older machines are the lifeblood of the club and its membership base.

With the addition of new eras like Period 6 and the soon to be established Period7/Pre modern, the pressure that these extra entries would apply to our meetings will result in HMRAV having to make major changes to our race schedules. With time curfews in place and grid number restrictions, many long term racers and supporters of the club would be impacted.

Currently, the HMRAV committee have decided that our events will remain Period 2 to Period 5. The decision to invite Formula Two sidecars is made on an event by event basis. P6 and Pre modern are accepted at many major events, (Barry Sheene, Island Classic, Historic Nationals) as well as at club and Interclub events.

There are many racing clubs that welcome the addition of these classes and the extra numbers on the grid. The HMRAV committee acknowledges that the sport will continue to grow and will revisit this topic on a regular basis.
